Rick Waldo

Board Member

Rick is a co-founder and Managing Partner of Caydan Capital Partners. He has spent over 20 years in the private equity market, advising and investing in companies in a variety of industries including healthcare, business services, manufacturing and consumer packaged goods. Rick plays a lead role at Caydan in sourcing, structuring and managing control lower middle market buyout transactions, as well as growth oriented mezzanine transactions. He is also heavily involved in the M&A activity of Caydan’s portfolio companies and currently is a member of the board of directors of 6 portfolio companies.

 

Prior to founding Caydan and its predecessor firm Asydan Capital Partners, Rick was a Partner for 9 years at a Boston based, single family office focused on making direct investments in private equity. Rick helped lead all private equity investment initiatives on behalf of the family office, and sat on the board of 7 portfolio companies.

 

Previously, Rick co-founded Arctaris Capital Partners, an innovative royalty mezzanine debt fund focused on making $1MM - $5MM loans to businesses in the lower middle market. Prior to Arctaris, worked as a Vice-President at Brook Venture Partners, a $100M later stage SBIC subordinated debt fund, and was an Associate at Echelon Ventures, LLC, an early stage, high tech venture capital fund in Boston.

 

Prior to joining the direct investing world of private equity, Rick practiced as an attorney with the law firms of Nixon Peabody LLP in Boston and Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP in New York City. Throughout his legal career, he represented private equity, investment banking and growth stage company clients in a variety of mergers and acquisitions, leverage buyouts and other financing transactions. Rick received his A.B. from Cornell University and his JD/MBA from Case Western Reserve University.
